Gaurav Madan

Gaurav Madan hails from Yamunanagar, a small dusty town in Haryana, India. He discovered a passion for writing and music when he was all of ten. 

Gaurav did his Masters in Communication Studies from University of Pune and arrived in Bombay to make Films. After assisting Shashank Ghosh (Quick Gun Murugun) and Raja Menon (Barah Aana) he started working as a freelance Advertising Film Director. Gaurav has Produced and Directed over 200 TV and digital commercials and has his own Ad Production Company Last Joker Pictures based in Mumbai. 

In 2014, one of Gaurav’s feature Film scripts ‘Shaktipur Crude’ was a part of prestigious Sundance Screenwriters Lab. Since then he has been a part of many writer’s rooms and has been a semi-finalist in Cinestaan Storytellers 2017 and 2018. His 2017 short Film ‘Sambhavtaha’ (Probably) travelled to more than 50 national and international Film festivals including IDSFFK, MAMI and Kolkata International Film Festival and won numerous awards including Best Director, Best Writer and Best Short Film for Gaurav Madan. The film released on Zee5 in May 2020 along with another short that Gaurav wrote –  ‘Svah: so be it’.

Gaurav’s debut feature film Barah by Barah (12×12 Untitled) had its Indian Premiere in IFFK, Kerala and International Premiere in Shanghai International Film Festival 2021. Since then It has toured many film festivals and won numerous awards including Grand Prix for Best Feature Film 2021 at FIPRESCI India. His second feature film script Kanda Vanda was a part of NFDC Filmcity Script Lab and won development award at West meets East Screenplay Lab, Dhaka International Film Festival. Another script of his Shani Yantra is slated to be produced by Reliance Entertainment.

Gaurav constantly strives to hone a unique and compelling voice. His real quest though is self-discovery while exploring many wonders of the world of storytelling.
